CoLab and Cornelius Cardew

CoLab is an annual fortnight set aside at Trinity Laban for students and staff to participate in a wide range of collaborations and experimental performance projects. This year got off to a great start with Music Faculty teaching and admin staff working together to perform Cornelius Cardew’s Treatise.

This video was made by the student CoLab communications team: the start features an interview with our Senior Library Assistant, Walter (Cornelius’ son) about the circumstances around the composition of the piece and his views on its challenging graphic score! The interview took place in our rolling stacks which are normally off-limits – you can spot some of our special collections in the background.

You can keep up with CoLab news via the dedicated CoLab blog, or take a look at what we hold in the library about or by Cornelius Cardew.
